Nap Time
Ellie napping with her big brother :) I’m going to miss these little gowns with the cute little prints one day. She is too precious when she sleeps.
Little Lady
Auntie Claire brought Ellie this ADORABLE outfit. She intended to give it to me at the baby shower, but just couldn’t resist and had to show it to me early – it is too cute. Ellie went to Jeff City with me on this day and stayed with her Great Aunt Anita for a couple hours so I could do some shopping. I forgot to put the hat on her (and matching bib and blanket– Claire thinks of everything!) but couldn’t help but to snap some photos of her in the outfit. She just looks like such a little lady! :)
Sleepy Head
Jimmy snapped this picture of Ellie while she was falling asleep on her Mommy’s legs. This is one of Ellie’s favorite burping positions; usually my last resort because I hate her soft little cheeks on my boney knees. It just seems so uncomfortable, but I guess she likes it because she usually drifts off to sleep pretty soon after she lays down. This picture really shows how light her hair is getting – love the little swirl to the top right!! :)

She Loves Her Mommy
Ellie has so many cute outfits, but I like this one a lot. ;) It was a gift from Cherri Hinz – very adorable!

“Umm . . . why aren’t you blogging, Mommy?”
I know this is exactly what Ellie is thinking in this picture because I have been SO bad lately! I haven’t been posting anything or taking enough pictures. I’m well on my way to the Mother of the Year Award. Ellie’s personality is changing so much. I am loving each day with my baby girl – who just loves to smile and ‘coo’ at her Momma. :) She is still loving bath time – and it is still my favorite time because I love to watch her curious little eyes watch the water fall. She is becoming more active with her hands all the time. She twiddles her thumbs and touches her face. I love when she “rests” her chin on her little hand = ADORABLE.
This picture is cracking me up – Lu looking adorable in her 3 month gown (that is already too small . . .kind of sad!), her little pink polka dotted socks that don’t match at all, her boppy with the crazy cute print, the bright blanket underneath made by Toni Shanks, and to top it all off those little ruby red fingernails. :) Loving it!

One Month Check-Up
Today, Ellie had her first month check-up. We received another great report! :)
Overall, Lu is in the 40th percentile . . . here are her stats:
Date: 1-17-2011
Height: 20 3/4 inches
Weight: 9 pounds
Head Circumference: 38 centimeters
After the appointment, we went back to Nana’s to spend the afternoon. Ellie was so worn out – she has rough days. ;)
Ellie’s Weekend
Our little Lu had a very busy weekend, which was quite a change from our week – we stayed home every day because it was so cold out! Hopefully this week isn’t so frigid so we can make some visits :)
Here are a few of the weekend’s highlights . . .
We made an appearance at Lexi’s birthday party at “Thunder Alley.” Don’t let this picture fool you – our baby is no party pooper, she just got a little tired after watching her Mommy kick her Daddy’s butt at bowling. ;)
Jimmy is such a trendsetter in his sweats and bowling shoes, don’t cha’ think?
After we went bowling, LuBird and I sacked out on the couch and watched the Miss America pageant. My princess took lots of notes!
On Sunday, Ellie spent the night at Nana and Papa’s house, giving Mommy and Daddy a chance to go to dinner and a movie. After a delicious dinner, we both decided we were too tired for a movie and headed home for some precious sleep. :) Ellie enjoyed her time with Aunt Mollie, Nana, Papa, and Uncle Jesse. She watched Transformers and apparently could not take her eyes off of the television. She loved the action!

All Dolled Up
Tomorrow is going to be a fun day! It is Uncle Jesse’s birthday and we are going to watch him play basketball in Vienna. Ellie is so excited. :) Jesse is turning 14. It’s hard to believe how grown up he is – I remember when he was Ellie’s size! Tomorrow is also Jimmy’s niece, Lexi’s birthday. So after we get back from Jesse’s ball game, it is off to Lexi’s birthday party at the new bowling alley in Owensville! It should make for an busy and exciting exhausting day. ;)
Because Ellie will see so many people tomorrow, we thought she should look extra special, so we painted her nails for the first time! I’m not sure how I feel about them . . . I think they make her look too old. But her little baby fingernails sure do look adorable – whether they are painted firecracker red or not.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Soothes Her Soul
Tonight, Ellie was a tad bit fussy . . . so, what does Daddy do? He “youtubes” one of his favorite songs: Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Apparently it worked because not long after, she was fast asleep. :)
Pictures Are In! :)

Justa’ Swingin’
Ellie loves, loves, loves her newest toy – her swing! She is very fond of being rocked and swayed, which is great because her swing will cradle and swing her back and forth. It takes about a total of two minutes to knock her out and send her to lala land; that is if she doesn’t get the hiccups, which she seems to almost every other time she swings. Not to worry, after about an ounce of milk and a big burp she is good to go and ready to be put back in that swing. :)
My Precious Baby
Ellie’s Auntie Claire gave us one of the coolest presents ever for Christmas – a photo session with Sarah McDaniel! I have always loved Sarah’s photos; I couldn’t wait for her to capture our princess. Here is a sneak peek of a couple of her shots . . . . we can’t wait to see the rest!

Ellie’s First Christmas
I know this is a bit out of order, but today I rearranged our living room and realized how much I missed our Christmas tree already! I put our tree up about two weeks before Thanksgiving. I was so eager. I wanted to be prepared because I had this hunch that Lu was going to arrive early and I was afraid I wouldn’t get the tree up for her first Christmas. Well wouldn’t you know it? I put the tree up 6 weeks early and Ellie was three days late. I think I jinxed us. ;) The best part was all of “Baby’s First Christmas” ornaments we were able to put on the tree. I can’t wait for next year when Ellie gets to actually open her own presents!
Spoiled Already
We just hate to hear our little Lu cry – it is the saddest little sound you will ever hear! That’s why we use the tag team approach for almost all tasks. After her bath at Nana’s, Ellie became a little impatient with Nana and her Mama, so as you can see, we resorted to one of us dressing her and the other feeding her simultaneously. She became a happy baby really quick after that. :)
She loves the bath . . . . (sorry a little bit blurry!)
But she hates getting dressed afterward . . . poor baby!
I love rocking Ellie after her bath. She just coos and smiles. You can tell she is so relaxed. She sleeps the best on the nights she has baths. I can’t resist snapping pictures of the sweet smiles she gives while she catches her zzz’s.
Isn’t she a doll? :)

Angel Eyes
Each day, Luella shows off her big blue eyes more and more. In the beginning, she would only have her eyes open for a few hours a day, but now they’re open much more – a couple hours at a time between naps. I love talking to her and seeing her reactions to my voice and to her Daddy’s. She is so bright eyed!
