Our Baby Girl’s Room

Jimmy and I worked so hard to make the perfect room for Lu. Before we painted it a neutral tan color, the walls were royal blue! It took a lot to cover up, but with the help from Grandpa Denny, he and Jimmy did a great job. I painted the trim and ugly orange fireplace white – which I love! Mom bought Ellie’s bedding and gave it to me at the shower. I picked it out months before, but didn’t expect for it to be so perfect. I fell in love with it! As you can see, we finally got our crib, which I think looks really good! Overall, I am proud of Ellie’s room and I think that when she is old enough to form her own opinion, she will love it, too! :)

Ellie’s crib and bedding. I really like the birds. It’s funny that we bought so many things with birds on them – because right after Ellie was born at the hospital, she kept making the funniest faces and opening her mouth. Mom started to call her “Bird” because she said she reminded her so much of a little bird. The nickname has stuck since then. :)
Notice that Ellie’s Scentsy Buddy, Lenny the Lamb came in - - isn’t he cute?!

Ellie’s changing table. I can’t wait for her to be big enough to use her Jenny Jumper. When Mollie, Jesse and I were babies, we loved ours! Ellie’s was a gift from Grandma Ronda and Grandpa Rodney. Ignore the tag on the rug in this picture and the next – I really need to cut those off!

Ellie’s armoire – which is PACKED with the cutest outfits! :) Granny Linda bought her the Diaper Genie – which Jimmy and I are so thankful for. It is definitely a must-have!

Kobe wasn’t sure about his little sister at first, but now he has grown to be very protective of her. When visitors come, he is the first one to check them out and make sure its okay for them to hold his baby sister, Ellie. ;)

Lovely to Meet You!

It is so fun to show Ellie off to all of our friends and family. I love seeing them smile while they hold her. She has brought so much joy to all of our lives already! Here are a few shots of some visits. “Auntie Claire” has made several trips to see Ellie – all the way from Columbia! Each time she comes over, she bears gifts – some of the CUTEST outfits from Gymboree. Ellie will definitely be the best dressed baby around! :)

Coming Home

It is so obvious that I am a new mommy because I am constantly snapping pictures of my baby girl. On the way home from the hospital, I think I snapped about a hundred of her. She rides in the car so well – doesn’t fuss or anything. I only hope that it stays this way! Here’s Ellie in her pumpkin seat doing what she does best – being so precious.

Happy Birthday

Here are some pictures of Ellie’s birthday. It is so crazy how much her looks change each day, but I can still see a lot of them in her first pictures from the hospital.

I consider myself to be very lucky to have had such an easy delivery. I arrived at the hospital at 11:00 AM and had Ellie just ten hours later. When I got there, I was only dilated to a 1! After walking the halls with Jimmy for about an hour, my contractions became so strong that I could no longer walk through them. The nurse checked me again and I was dilated to a 2. I opted for pain medication through my IV, as I wanted to keep walking a bit more and hold off on the epidural. I had a small allergic reaction to the pain medication, so we went ahead with the epidural. I have to say that it was the most painful part of my whole experience. About an hour later, the nurse came in and told me that I was now dilated to a 6. I told her to call the doctor in because I knew it wouldn’t be long. Twenty minutes later I begged her to come back and check me again, she seemed reluctant since she just checked me not long before, but I told her I knew it was time. She seemed surprised when she checked me to find that it was time to start pushing. I pushed for about ten minutes, then my doctor arrived. After two more sets of pushing, Ellie was here! I’m so glad I only had to push for 15 minutes. I really don’t see how some women can do it for two or three hours! Jimmy and Mollie were in the delivery room with me, and we were all so emotional. It was such a beautiful thing. I will never forget how I felt when little miss Ellie was put into my arms for the first time. I know now that there is no other love that can be compared to the love a mommy has for her baby girl. :)

Fashionably Late

After 40 long weeks and 3 miserable days, Ellie has finally made her first appearance. Jimmy and I couldn’t be happier with our precious little bundle of joy. Being new parents is everything we expected and more. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful and healthy baby girl. We look forward to spending the many days to come with little miss Ellie.
